Tatahouine is thought to be a sample of mantle material from the asteroid 4 Vesta. However, it is not a typical Diogenite. The huge pyroxene crystals seen in this particular achondrite illustrate the characteristic Diogenite mineralogy, but Tatahouine is the only Diogenite known that is not brecciated. No samples of Tatahouine exhibiting fusion crust have been reported.
